Sustainable Housing Research
Recently I was approached by a Researcher from James Cook University who is conducting some research into post occupancy evaluations of sustainable housing. The research appears to be very interesting, and I feel will be able to offer some valuable insights to academicians/policy makers long into the future.
Below is an short description of the research written by Monique, the researcher at JCU. If you’d like more information or would like to be involved in this study, simply by completing a survey, please contact Monique via the short form below.
Australia has one of the highest environmental impacts in the world. As such, there is an urgent need to live more sustainably. Sustainable housing is one element of sustainable urbanism that ordinary people can be involved in. The future of sustainable housing lies with the consumer’s perceptions and evaluations of sustainable housing.
This research will focus on post occupancy evaluations of sustainable housing. This can be achieved through surveys undertaken by residents in sustainable homes across the country. The purpose is to report on the real life evaluations of families living in sustainable homes, including an inventory of sustainable practices and any trends in their usage, and the influences and motivations to live in a sustainable home. This can be used as a marketing tool to promote sustainable living, products and concepts to future residents and home owners.
